The rapid take up of electric vehicles will be vital if Britain is to hit its climate change targets. With many companies transitioning their entire fleets to electric or zero emissions by 2030 they need to be confident that the supply of vehicles, components and charging points to keep their vehicles on the road will be sufficient.
For local councils and private businesses there are many steps they need to consider when decarbonising their fleets. A first step towards a more environmentally friendly fleet operation is to calculate the CO2 emissions of your vehicles over their last typical year of operation to establish a baseline.
They must also think about the infrastructure that is required to charge up their fleet of environmentally friendly vehicles.
In addition to this the machinery and vehicles that are used to carry out highway maintenance and repairs can often be high emitting. So, thought must be given to how both the public and private sectors can decarbonise in this area.
This CPD certified webinar which forms part of LCRIG’s ‘Practical steps on the journey to net zero’ series, explores some of the actions that can be taken to help achieve a carbon reduction in fleet.
