Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England with centres in York, Middlesbrough, Saltaire, Wakefield and Gateshead.
They are seeking a passionate tutor for the Highways sector to develop and drive the Highways Academy at Askham Bryan. Responding to local skills needs, this role will require the tutor to plan, co-ordinate, deliver, assess and review the learning activities associated with training programmes.
Job description
- To teach theory and practical learning to a cohort of apprentices in line with the apprenticeship knowledge, skills and behaviours.
- To manage and monitor the progress of a caseload of learners, organise workplace assessment visits and provide a point of proactive and regular contact with employers.
- To interview and conduct a skills analysis and associated initial assessments as part of the recruitment process for new apprentices and employers.
- To support learners to find work placements and develop links with local employers to generate repeat business.
- To produce and monitor individual training plans for apprentices and contribute to their updating, encompassing all elements of the delivery programme.
- To conduct work-based assessments, internal verification and prepare for external verification, in line with awarding body requirements.
- To develop appropriate work-based assessment materials to support skills, knowledge and behaviours.
- To plan, prepare and deliver teaching in accordance with the curriculum needs of the organisation.
- To visit the employers and apprentices whilst at work to conduct workplace reviews to assess progress and support the apprentices to succeed.
Person specification
This vacancy is part time tutor however there is scope for this to be increased to full time.
Delivering ad hoc courses such as traffic management / safe dig / dumper based on anything that this person recruited is trained in. There is also teaching support and teacher training available.
